Your Easter Weekend Forecast
Another holiday is upon us and many are making plans with family and friends. As the weather gets warmer this time of year, many celebrations move outdoors. But will the weather cooperate in your area?
Here’s a look at your Easter weekend forecast.
Saturday
If you’re planning to take the kids to an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, you might be in for a soggy surprise in both the Southeast and the Pacific Northwest.
A sluggish front currently draped across the Southeast has been taking its time clearing out and will continue to be in no rush tomorrow.
An additional inch (or more) of rainfall is possible between tonight and Saturday night. Where the rainfall remains a bit more convective – places like southern AL, northern FL, GA, SC, and eastern NC – scattered instances of flash flooding could potentially become an issue.
The Pacific Northwest will remain under the influence of troughing despite a ridge building over the rest of the Western US. Multiple waves of rainfall (and mountain snow) will move through, keeping this region soggy into next week.
As for the rest of the country, building ridges and expanding high pressure will keep conditions sunny and temperatures on the upswing through the day on Saturday. Get out there and enjoy it!
Sunday
As Sunday dawns, we’ll still be dealing with our slow-moving front and soggy pattern for the Pacific Northwest.
While the Pacific Northwest remains rainy (with mountain snow) through the day on Sunday, the front in the Southeast will begin to finally push offshore early in the day with skies clearing behind it. It will, however, bring showers to Florida and some of the Gulf Coast as it attempts to depart.
Additionally, a shortwave will move through the Plains on Sunday, facilitating showers and cloudy conditions as the day wears on.
Elsewhere, sunshine will reign as high pressure continues to expand in both the west and the east. Above-average temps will continue to increase in coverage as well, expanding into the western and mid-western states.
The Southeast will remain noticeably cooler than average in the wake of the passing front, but sunshine will make a return, at the very least.
More warm and fairly tranquil weather is on the horizon for the week ahead, so get out there and enjoy it when you can!
Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
